About Me
Dr. Lhulier earned her doctorate in Professional Psychology from The George Washington University, and her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Upon completion of her doctorate, Dr.Lhulier completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Pace University’s Counseling Center in New York. Her advanced training consisted of providing individual, couples, and group therapy to young adults struggling with a wide range of issues; developing and presenting crisis intervention workshops to the hard hit New Yorkers after 9/11; and providing therapy supervision to individuals in training.
After her Fellowship was successfully completed, Dr. Lhulier worked in the Emergency Department on an inpatient psychiatric hospital. In this role, Dr. Lhulier assessed degree and severity of illness and determined whether emergency psychiatric patients needed to be hospitalized, and if so, facilitated the process. In addition to her work in the hospital, Dr. Lhulier returned to The George Washington University Professional Psychology Doctoral Program in order to help lead The Center Clinic, which is a community mental health center housed within the doctoral program staffed by doctoral students. By the time she left this position in 2007, Dr. Lhulier had been promoted to Director of The Center Clinic. In this position, she was responsible for training, supervising, policy development, coordination with faculty, and program development. Dr. Lhulier decided to leave The Center Clinic to pursue her ongoing commitment to private practice. However, Dr. Lhulier has not left her commitment to education behind, she continues to serve as a Clinical Supervisory Faculty member of The George Washington University’s Professional Psychology Doctoral Program, and she teaches adjunct courses at Argosy University’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program. In addition to her teaching, Dr. Lhulier views herself as a life long learner and is currently completing her second year of psychoanalytic training at The Baltimore Washington Center for Psychoanalysis.
Dr. Lhulier has published and presented several papers in various academic settings. Her papers can be found in Psychoanalytic Psychology and Psychiatry. She has presented her work on several different topics at the American Psychological Association’s yearly conference and at the Psychoanalytic Division of APA’s Spring Conferences.
Dr. Lhulier is a member of the American Psychological Association, Division 39 of the American Psychological Association, affiliate member of The American Psychoanalytic Association, candidate at The Baltimore Washington Center for Psychoanalyis, and lifetime member of Eating Disorders Hope (non-profit). In addition to her role in these groups, she is also an active volunteer in the Give An Hour Non-Profit (http://www.giveanhour.org/cms/index.php), which is dedicated to helping active military personnel gain access to quality mental health treatment. |
